Numerical investigation on the interaction of an oscillating bubble with the interface of a non-Newtonian fluid

The dynamics of an oscillating bubble near a liquid–liquid interface is complex multiphase flow problem due to the highly nonlinear interaction, such as fragmentation and tearing. When one liquid mediums non-Newtonian, its constitution would significantly influence both motion evolution. In this study, numerical model established based on Eulerian finite element method with non-Newtonian fluid described by Herschel–Bulkley model. validated comparing experimental results for non-spherical pulsating at water–oil analytical solution laminar fluids in circular tube. According simulation analysis different case parameters, our findings suggest that forms crater when squeezed bubble, downward jet can penetrate further deepen crater. As distance parameter increases, gradually disappears or even bulges. Furthermore, yield shear stress give plastic properties similar solid, effectively reducing bubble's pulsation load. Additionally, behavior index n comes from power-law impacts jet's impact process. n≤1, likelier become funnel-shaped, whereas > 1, it bullet-head-shaped. addition enhancing nonsphericity, reduction Reynolds number also weakens crimp deformation interface. zero, larger buoyancy less deformable fluid, easier split annular jet.
